For teenagers to pay online by smartphone

For Gen Z, smartphones play an important role in the daily life. With Orange Cash Jeunes and the permission of their parents, teenagers can use their smartphone to make online payments.

Wirecard and Orange have added Orange Cash Jeunes to the range of functions in Orange Cash, the Orange wallet app in France. The new feature allows teenagers under the age of 18 to make mobile payments with supervision from their parents.

Young people increasingly use their smartphones and other mobile devices for online shopping. They also want to use mobile devices – rather than cash, which could be lost – to pay in physical shops. At the same time, many of them don’t have their own bank account or card to make payments. With Orange Cash Jeunes, Wirecard and Orange have developed a solution that meets the needs of young people. The concept is simple: parents set up accounts for their children via the Orange Cash web user interface and teenagers install the Orange Cash Jeunes app on their smartphones. Parents can top up and manage their kids’ accounts through the web user interface, where they can also view purchases in real time.
